Baby's Temperament

The Period of PURPLE Crying begins at about 2 weeks of age and continues until about 3-4 months of age.  During this phase of a baby's life they can cry for hours and still be healthy and normal.

Sleeping

Safe Sleep Guide to a safe sleep environment to reduce the risk of SIDS

What does a safe sleep environment look like?

Even though babies do not have regular sleep cycles until the age of 6 months, it is important to create                 bedtime routines and develop good sleep habits.

Tummy Time

Tummy time is important for your baby to help develop their neck muscles.  You should place your baby on their tummy when they are awake, for 5 minutes at a time, 3 minutes a day.
Remember: "Back to sleep, tummy to play!"

Postpartum Depression

For most women, a case of the "baby blues" is temporary and disappears quickly.  However, 1 out of 10 women develop postpartum depression.  This is something that we screen for in all new mothers.  If you find yourself overwhelmed, frustrated, anxious, persistently teary or depressed, and unable to explain or shake these feelings, don't suffer in silence or shame.  Call your OB or our office right away for help and support.

Breastfeeding Resources

After your milk supply is well established, you can begin to add pumping to your regular routine by pumping once a day.  Make sure you are storing your breastmilk safely.
